Some of the most popular exams to clear through universities for international students are TOEFL, IELTS, SAT, GMAT, MCAT, and LSAT. They are an important entry requirement for universities abroad.
TOEFL and IELTS – English Language Test
TOEFL is the Test of English as a Foreign Language conducted by the Educational Testing Services. IELTS is the International English Language Testing System conducted by the British Council. Institutions use it to ensure that students can understand the English language when they choose their desired subject of study. These exams assess your listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. The score required by TOEFL iBT (0-120) while IELTS Band (0-9). Universities in the UK, US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand accept them.
GRE
Educational Testing Service conducts the Graduate Record Examination. It is a 3-and-a-half-hour standardized test that is part of the entry requirements for students applying to engineering and sciences programs in institutions in the US. It is also a requirement in the universities of Canada. The test is carried out to assess the student’s verbal, mathematical, and analytical skills. The total excellent score required for the GRE is 340.
GMAT
The GMAC operates the Graduate Management Admission Test to assess the problem-solving, analytical writing, logical, and critical reasoning skills of the students who are interested in business and management programs. GMAT is accepted in 2,400 universities in over 110 countries. The total excellent score required for the GRE is 200 – 700.
SAT
The Scholastic Aptitude Test is a 3-hour standardized test conducted by the College Board as an admission procedure in the US. It assesses the reading, writing, and mathematical skills of the student’s chosen subject. The total excellent score required for the SAT is 1050 – 1200.
MCAT
MCAT is the Medical College Admission Test administered by Pearson VUE. It is an entrance for admissions into medical schools in Canada, the US, and the Caribbean Islands. The test assesses the knowledge of natural and social sciences, critical thinking, and scientific problem-solving skills. The total excellent score required for the MCAT is 1050 – 1200.
LSAT
Law School Admission Test (Abroad) is designed by the LSAC for students who want to get law school admission in the US, Canada, and Australia. The test assesses the logical, and analytical reasoning of the students as well as the reading and writing skills. The score for passing the LSAT is ( 120-180).
