Some rules for travel
If you’re planning a trip to the UK, mind these rules:
- As per the latest travel guidelines, any Indan national with a valid UK visa (and whose final destination is the UK), can get on board.
- UK currently requires a 14-day self-quarantine for travellers from most countries, including India. A small set of people is exempt though.
- Vistara’s rules for travel require you to wear a mask at all times during the journey (which includes the airport), and additionally, a face-shield through the duration of the flight. The airline says its staff will wear personal protection equipment (PPE) at all times and avoid non-essential contact with flyers. There is also a new food and beverage service (yes!), in keeping with the updated health and safety norms.
Meanwhile, British Airways has resumed flights to Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Bengaluru from Monday. Virgin Atlantic will start flying to Delhi from 2 September and to Mumbai from 17 September. SpiceJet has acquired a pair of slots at Heathrow from September, though we don’t know when flights will take off. And Air India has been operating flights between the two countries as part of the Vande Bharat Mission.
