About Kyoto University of Art and Design Gaien Campus

Founded in 1934, Kyoto University of Art and Design is a private university in Sakyo-ku, Kyoto, Kyoto, Japan. It was chartered as a junior college in 1977 and became a four-year college in 1991. Among the regular faculty members are the distinguished visual and performing artists and also guest lecturers who visit the university campus from time to time. The university's International Research Center for the Arts (IRCA) has by and large welcomed many guests from America, Europe, and Japan, ever since it was formed in the year 2004.

The Gaien Campus of Kyoto University of Art and Design is the most well-known of all and was established in July, 2010 as a base in Tokyo for the Kyoto University of Art and Design and its sister university, Tohoku University of Art and Design.
